
Assessment
​
The use of multiple examples and in class opportunities to work on conservation of energy problems provides valuable formative assessment opportunities for the teacher. In addition, students are required to write in their science journal at he end of many lessons, allow for further assessment of their knowledge. In addition to these formative assessment strategies, their are two summative assessment tools used in this lesson sequence; a quiz and a rubric for the final project. Both are outlined below.
Conservation of Energy



Quiz
This quiz occurs in the fourth lesson and serves as a summative piece that evaluates the students understanding of the conservation of energy. It is available for download below.
Rubric
The rubric found below is intended for the Rube Goldberg project completed as part of the fifth lesson. It is another summative evaluation that can be used to gauge student understanding in regards to the project. A link for the rubric can be found below.
